Best Rock of the 80s in Stockholm: 9 Places for Music Lovers

Bromma Records is a Stockholm record store focused on well-organised used vinyl and patient browsing. The selection is competitively priced, and the owner’s choice of music on the turntables gives the shop a distinctly personal atmosphere while you search through the stock.

It is a useful destination for collectors looking to buy second-hand records, sell part of a collection or explore commission options. The store is also close to a station, making it practical to reach for a dedicated digging session. Pickup and in-store shopping are available.

Oscar Guitars is a Stockholm music store with a strong focus on guitars, particularly used and vintage instruments. The selection includes sought-after older models such as 1960s Stratocasters and vintage Hagström guitars, giving players and collectors plenty to examine beyond standard new-stock choices.

The welcoming in-store approach makes it easy to spend time comparing instruments and discussing guitar details. In-store shopping, delivery and pick-up are available, while on-site services add practical support for owners who need more than a new instrument. It is a particularly good fit for vintage-guitar browsing, high-end used instruments and visitors who value patient, informed assistance.

Vinyl Records is a compact Stockholm record shop with an impressively varied second-hand selection. Rock from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s sits alongside records from other genres, with CDs also available for collectors browsing beyond vinyl.

The stock is well organised, and the shop has an unpretentious crate-digging atmosphere. It is a good stop for discovering artists, discussing music and looking for reasonably priced albums, singles or second-hand favourites.

Hus 7 is a small Stockholm live music venue with an industrial edge and a close-to-the-band atmosphere. Its capacity of roughly 300 keeps sightlines intimate, while seating is available for guests who want to listen without standing throughout the show.

The programme leans towards alternative rock, post-punk and new wave, with a licensed bar offering a limited but reasonable drinks selection, including non-alcoholic choices. It is a good fit for discovering bands in a raw, compact setting rather than a polished concert hall.

Beat Goes On is a compact Stockholm record shop with a focus on rock from the 1970s and 1980s. The stock includes vinyl and CDs, with second-hand titles alongside some sealed releases and familiar names such as AC/DC and Iron Maiden.

The selection is suited to a quick browse for classic-rock collectors and visitors looking for an unexpected find rather than a large, highly specialised archive. Its straightforward format makes it easy to add to a record-shopping route through the city.

The Queen's Head is a classic British pub on Drottninggatan, with a relaxed atmosphere, table service and a menu built around pub food and drinks. Its selection includes 25 beers on tap, alongside whisky, cocktails, wine and spirits, giving after-work groups plenty of room to choose between a familiar pint and something more substantial.

The setting is cosy rather than formal, with outdoor seating and options for dining at the bar or settling in for a meal. Portions lean toward traditional pub fare, while the drinks list is the main draw. Prices can vary considerably between drinks, so it suits visitors who want atmosphere and choice more than a strictly budget-led stop.

Gellborn Records is a Stockholm record shop with an unusually large catalogue, including a stated inventory of around 100,000 vinyl records. The collection covers extensive pop and rock material from the 1970s and 1980s, as well as rarities and releases from a wide range of countries.

The shop is best approached with a specific artist, title or genre in mind. The owner’s knowledge can help locate less obvious items within the densely stocked selection, turning an otherwise open-ended search into a more focused hunt for unusual records.

Debaser Hornstulls Strand is one of Stockholm’s established destinations for concerts, club nights and music-led events. Its programme spans local and international acts, with a strong curiosity for emerging artists and a calendar that moves comfortably between live shows, parties, quizzes and other formats.

The venue has a lively, inclusive character, supported by an on-site bar and restaurant. It is a strong setting for a full evening around music rather than a single-purpose concert visit, with enough variety in the programme to appeal to different scenes and audiences.

Debaser Nova is a Stockholm live music bar designed for intimate concerts and relaxed drinks. The compact setting makes it easy to enjoy smaller performances with a beer in hand, creating a more direct connection between audience and artist than a large venue allows.

Its programme spans concerts, club nights and events, with acts ranging from roots and indie to punk and darker alternative sounds. It is a strong choice for a low-key live music evening, though sound from neighbouring spaces can occasionally affect the atmosphere.
